Why is attraction such a damn competition these days?

I don’t mean a competition as in who looks best, who is the most talented, who is more popular, no, I don’t mean any of that crap. I mean why on earth do two people have such a guard up against each other? Everybody plays hard to get. Everybody. Guilty, of course. But it’s getting to the point where it’s absurd.

I’m so sick and tired of all the bullshit about not texting people first, or “pretending” to not remember certain details about someone else, just so they think you don’t really care about them as much as you actually do. What in the hell is that? I mean, sure. Some people like the chase. I get that. It can be fun to feel wanted sometimes, absolutely. But that kind of nonsense…that’s not even reasonable - that’s just plain cruel. 

I just want to find someone out there who won’t play games with my head. If you like me, then just admit it, for fuck’s sake. Be real with me. Don’t screw around and make me chase you to the end of the earth just so I can have you. When did this become the current trend?

All I can think of is old fashioned love, where two people could just flat out fall for each other. It’s so much more of a rush when someone can just be completely open with their feelings. Say what you want straight off the bat. Take that risk. The absolute best kind of satisfaction is when you can prepare to feel embarrassed only to find out that you don’t have to be, because the feeling is mutual. Be vulnerable. Be revealing. And most importantly, be proud of it. Don’t ever be ashamed of how you feel. And certainly don’t go hiding behind some evasive head games just to keep some stupid “upper hand.”

I just want to find that feeling again - that feeling in which you’re lost, and completely surrounded by love. Give me that excitement, that drive, make it so that you’re the absolute first thing I think of when I wake up. Don’t make me wait half of the God damn day for your text because in your pretty little head, you thought it would be a good idea to pretend you weren’t that interested.
